Now that the markets are loosing as if there is no tommorow.I would like to take my mind of it and my bleeding ,torn and tatered portfolio.
I was wondering how many of us at TED play Golf.
Golf is the most wonderful game.It is more a passion than a game.It teaches on the course and seeks the best from each person. It is an individual game with no age barrier.A perfect antidote to stress. You need to forget everything other than to simply connect the club with the ball. With no one to blame there is a scope for self improvement each day.
Golf is a big draw all over the world there are equal no. of public courses as there are private ones in US. Thailand boosts of some great courses that draw the Japanese by the drove. It may be noted that the popularity of Golf goes up with the prosperity of the country case in point South Korea.
Golf many feel is for the elderly but is fantastic for all ages it gives us a chance to go out in the sun or in any weather and enjoy the outdoors.
I would love to hear the comments of everybody on TED with regard to Golf.

I have started playing golf since end of last year and yes its a great game as you have rightly stated you challenge nobody  but yourself in this game .....initially I used to find it very frustrating when I had a very bad swing and inspite of knocking more than 2-3 buckets of ba*ls I still used to hardly get anything(not that I am very good now :-)) but still I was told not to give up ...I try to play whenever I can atleast keep in tocuh with the swing .....and friends believe me hitting a stationery ball isnt as easy as it seems ....alok bhai pls dont ask what my handicap is :-)

Warm REgards

Basantji, Do start off as this is one game that any body can continue for a long time some people paly it till the age of 80.
Jagtapji handicap is dependent on the dayWinkthe sunnier it is the better the handicap.
Yes Golf requires a lot of perseverance to start with but then you get hooked on to it( only the hook is to be controledLOL).
It is Yoga if I may truly express my feelings for the game. The game humbels every body jast as stocks do.A clear focus as in stocks is of paramount importance. When I read about decipline it always takes my mind to the game.
I would suggest everybody who can to take up this game It is imply great.

Unfortunately, golf is a bit elitist here. I've played in phoren where it's quite cheap and you don't need to be a member. The municipal councils ran the courses.

I console myself with computer golf nowadays!

Yes, I do agree that Golf has an elitist tag attached to it.But so is any sport that requires a club membership.I have noticed in most clubs the non players outnumber the players by a vast margin and the club is reduced to a cheap drinking place for a priveleged few.The membership too is guarded as if it was the holy grail and few geniune sport lovers get through this old boys clubs.
But just think about going to a vast expanse of green in the day away from the hustle and bustle of the city to be able to play without noise all around. It is a really good game that requires a lot of patience and honesty .

See Moneycontrol's home page for a hilarious ad involving golf (Deustche Bank). Bernhard Langer certainly wasn't consulted for the ad!
