So does the recent fall makes it a buying candidate?? I am still optimistic about telecom sector in the long run, but I think waiting for some more quarters (may be 2-3 ) and let the dust settle would be a better thing to do.

What is the opinion of others memebers?

I think it is a pretty good move by Bharti. The reason why so many players are coming to India is driving Bharti to go to Africa: GROWTH. Growth is shifting from Developed to Developing to Under-developed world.

yeah...and they are waiting for things to crash in the indian market before buying out competitors...mittal has already said consolidation will happen in 2 years and they are ready for it. I think by then they would have also consolidated their position in african markets and can use those cashflows to buyout companies here. So its i think the best bet to buy even now for the future.

I think the indian telecomm industry has reached the inevitable phase of consolidation now as there are too many companies poppin up with hardly any compettetive advantage over each other..

I think big fish like RCOM,vodafone or TATA would gulp small fishes like Uninor ,Aircell and other reginal players..

I invite all to share there wisdom on the future on telecom companies in india and how they vision the industry after 5-6 yrs..Will it be just 2-3 big players?

Nobody mentioned on this thread, the way to play telecom was by 100,000 crore handset market in India in 2010. I had a token 50 share position in Spice Mobile and observed it rocket feeling greater dolt each day. Can still double/triple in a year from here but I am in denial and have accepted that I've missed this train...Enjoy the journey those who like it.

Govt will gain with reissue of license but consumers will have to pay the price as Telecom companies will pass over the burden...time to get out of telecom companies as almost all families in villages has a mobile..might be they will opt for 2 more mobiles one for each in the family so the upside is restriced to a mximum of 4 times growth...only thing that might be intresting could be the broadband play hereon for these companies...
