I have a fairly low opinion about Dalal Street Mag's stock picking skills. I especially find it irritating when they publish the company results of last 5 quarters instead of last 5 years. Plus, under 'top performers of 2009', they don't list the stock whose stock price has gone down after their recommendation.

Thanks Smartcat,
It was a nice strategy. Its really difficult to figure out sell.
But the one which you mention was in microcap. Do you have sell strategies for mid and large caps.
One which I have read here is the market cap of large cap.

'Buy and Hold' strategy for FMCG, PSU Banks and "brand companies" like Castrol, Hawkins, Cummins etc.
For other stocks, I haven't figured it out yet.

Yeah, yeah - it is in my To Do list, although I bought SRF some time back already.
Have you looked at Clariant Chemicals? Rs. 900 cr market cap MNC company that literally makes everything! Colours (pigments) for plastic, textiles etc, ingredients for soaps, toothpastes etc, chemicals for paints, paper, leather etc and what not. |
If polymers would interest me, I would enter BASF via Ciba India.
If Clariant interests you, you may also look at Ultramarine.

if you are looking at Clariant you can also look at Asahi Songwon Colors. If i remember correctly Equity Master had given a buy call last year for this stock as a 5 bagger from 30-200 or something like that.
Vivek any views on asahi?

Boy comes to the girl's house to see her for marriage. Being her parents, you people say "If you are interested in this girl, take a look at her sister too.. and her cousin also!"
Makes me wonder if something is wrong with Clariant!

Perhaps something is wrong with the boy for shortlisting this girl's house?

And if you need the lyrics at hand ... link. See how concerned we are that you make the right choice and stop picking up dubious you-know-whats. And the ending (to the song) says it all ... Matchmaker, Matchmaker,
Plan me no plans
I'm in no rush
Maybe I've learned
Playing with matches
A girl can get burned
So,
Bring me no ring
Groom me no groom
Find me no find
Catch me no catch
Unless he's a matchless match.

understanding both the power of compound return and the difficulty getting it is the heart and soul of understanding a lot of things
