hi...
let us discuss some pre budget views...as what can we expect on this budget and what r the sectors which can get affected .................

why do ppl look forward to budget ???

basically i feel it has two reasons ...
one to knw wat new policies and rules the govt has for different sectors n industries ...and wat and how they shall affect on the industries....

secondly to know how the govt attribute its expenditure on its capital and current account ??
and wat shall be the sources for these expenditure..........

i feel that, this year the the FM shall take certain measures to control the inflation  numbers . We have already been seing some mesures ...like rising of the CRR and rising interest rates ....

The agriculture sector this y shud be benifited , like tractors , irrigation , fertilizers dure to high inflation in food commoities.....
also thesre shud be sum subsidy for the sugar producing farmers......
( this shud probable have a egative impact on the sugar companies )

i would like to read more and get my slef more updated on this topic as i donnot understand much abt budgets...so plz do contribute and share ur views on this topic

I believe the budget should be moved to around Diwali time.
This way the govt can look at the monsson and its effect on the economy and project/plan for the future. Also diwali is the New year and its an auspicious start. This Feb 28 is inhertied from the british time.

That was really interestijng but I doubt if it would be taken up seriously. Basically our financial year starts from April 01 and that is why we want to have the budget befoe that date.

One has to look at the utility of it.

Our economy depends heavily on the outcome of the monsoons.

Even our New Year Diwali is a celebration of the harvesting season. It makes common sense to have the budgetary exercise after the monsoons are over to evaluate its impact and project for the coming year. Right now we have no clue as to the efeect of the monsoons on our economy.
We blindly project hoping its all good.

I think that this would be a more effective planning exercise.

Having our year start in Apr 01 and the budget before it was started, I am guessing by the british. I do not know what the reasoning is. Also, We are not a British Colony anymore.

BTW, Chopda Pujan has been done since forever during Diwali to usher in the new year. Maybe we should go back to the pre British practice of our ancestors.

Experts' take on Budget vis-a-vis Mkts

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Investor & Trader says that everything depends on the Budget, since a fair bit of apprehension is already present due to political upheaval in states like Punjab. This Budget may see excise duty reduced and the rules for the FIIs to invest in India may be erased.

Ramesh Damani, Member, BSE hopes that the Budget will be good and the markets will respond accordingly. Markets may move sideways for 6-8 months and tax rates would be cut.

Ashok Wadhwa, CEO & Managing Partner, Ambit RSM says that there is room for excise reduction which will be positive for the markets. He feels that corporate tax might also be reduced this Budget and service tax is expected to be widened. A good tax Budget in expected in the overall but there is few concerns like the expected hike in STT and the treaty abuse. Though STT can become an avenue for more government income Wadhwa hopes that it will not be erased.

N Jayakumar, MD, Prime Securities feels that March has always been a difficult month. He believes that markets need to have shakeouts in order to reach new highs.12500-13000 is the bottom line on the valuations. Tax cuts and excise are what this Budget will bring. Regarding STT Jay Kumar feels that the FM may be tempted to increase it but capital gains tax has far more direct impact, he adds

Samir Arora, Fund Manger, Helios Capital on the other hand feels that a correction in the market was very needed and could have happened before and after the fall.

See all those expectations came to a big zero. No one could even come close to what was actually delivered.People were speculating with dozens of ifs and buts as the whole country watched the discussion on the consequences of an event which was itself unpredictable.

yes basant yu r right instead of coming on tv a day bfor the budget it would have made sense to bring the luminaries after the budget i feel cnbc tv 18 has made a mistake this time.reg the budget the fm feels that for the next 2 yrs corp india shall continue to deliver record profits so why not take a little and give it to the needy farmers, health, education.the trouble is that aconsiderable amount never reaches the needyit gets swallowed somewhere in the middle.
