Hey I seldom watch movies but the better ones are:
1) Saajan
2) Dil Hai ke maanta nahin
3) All Manmohan Desai Amitabh Bachchan block busters - The beauty with Desai Babu is that the scene changes very fast and the movie changes suspense each 15 minutes.
The last movie that I saw in a Hall was Chalte CHalte in 2003. SInce then I am yet to watch any movie OOH (Out of home). Have never visited a multiplex.I do watch some of the old classics like I saw Araadhna (Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore) yesterday - since there was no cricket on Tata Sky!!!

I request everybody to do charity for free.Feed the starving at no cost to you. Visit http://www.thehungersite.com - www.thehungersite.com Each time u click,a hungry person gets a cup of food.At last count nearly 500,000 people had been fed this way.
ABOUT THE HUNGER SITE
Your click on the "Give Free Food" button funds food for the hungry, paid for by site sponsors whose ads appear after you click and provided to people in need around the world through the efforts of http://www.mercycorps.org/ - Mercy Corps and http://www.americassecondharvest.org/ - America's Second Harvest .
HUNGER: DO YOU KNOW THE FACTS?
It is estimated that one billion people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition. That's roughly 100 times as many as those who actually die from these causes each year.
About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. This is down from 35,000 ten years ago, and 41,000 twenty years ago. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five.
Famine and wars cause about 10% of hunger deaths, although these tend to be the ones you hear about most often. The majority of hunger deaths are caused by chronic malnutrition. Families facing extreme poverty are simply unable to get enough food to eat.
In 1999, a year marked by good economic news, 31 million Americans were food insecure, meaning they were either hungry or unsure of where their next meal would come from. Of these Americans, 12 million were children. The Hunger Site began on June 1, 1999.
Please remember to click every day to give help and hope to those with nowhere to turn. Every click counts in the life of a hungry person.
Thank you

I think you should watch Shawshank Redemption Basantji.......
but i rearely like hindi movies....these days they dont make very good movies...like Amol palekar movies...Golmal...i think he was a brilliant actor and there was this movie he acted with ashok kumar....dont rember the name....where he is bhola bhala...and he learns a few tricks from ashok kumar...
i like suspense movies......but there are rarely good movies...and good movies dont work very well.....i thought Paheli was somethign very fresh,Parineeta was really Very fresh Indian movie...and Rang de basanti was good....
Padosan was a classic...Anand ----Babumoshi movie was nice....
We could actually start a list of them....good English and Hindia movies...

Anand ----Babumoshi movie was nice
_________________________________________________________
In fact ANand carried a deep meaning that inspite of the hardships that we suffer (death is just one of them) there are ways to be cheerful and joyous.
BTW I see Death as a salvation from hardship rather then an increase of one. The hardship occurs to the one whose near and dear ones pass away. The person who leaves this world is free. God knows what happens to him but he shifts his hardship to the ones behind him and the process continues as it has done for years.

I was watching an English movies at STAR with hindi sub titles and the character exclaimed Oh sh*t! you know what the hindi sub title displayed at the bottom of the screen Hey Bhagwan! Yes, Golmal was absoluitely real life like in a reel life. I mean Amol Palekar's acts like any person in your neighbourhood. The Indian film industry had quite a few very good actors Amol Palekar, Anupam Kher, Amjid Khan, Bade Bhaiya (Amit ji).. WOnder if the letter "A" in their names had anything to do with it. Amen!

No need to go to multiplex to watch comedy movie when it is available
24x7 in the television and most of the time live with new comedians every
now and then.GUESS which channel i am talking about?????????????
No No you are wrong
I am talking about the so called analyst and technician in CNBC
TV 18,NDTV,ZEE BUSINESS etc. They appear to me the biggest comedian
because they keep talking about the resistance of particular script and all
those technical hi-funda words and most of the time market behaves
exactly opposite than that of their views.

The age factor and the movies.
Sometime I wonder are the two related! Aparantly no, The movies under discussion is still enjoyed by young enthusiatic dynamic guys. I think good movies and good songs may be evergreen and hence age of viewer does not infuence them. The word contemporary is relaced by the words for ever. May be films like corporate, Mr. and Mrs Nair or Yanha can be enjoyed even after 15 years by the then young guys!

Mera Naam Joker was another of those hidden message movies. It showed how quickly things changed in life and how one needed to adapt to that change. The underlying theme was to spread happiness and joy at no cost.Though it flopped I thought that the movie did not get its due at the Box office.

since we are discussing abt movies & multiplexes, one thing that i wish to know is about "Cinemax " IPO.
Can anyone tell me whether the Infinity Mall in Andheri,MUmbai is owed by Cinemax ????. Are they only into Multplexes or also into malls ?
because i have been visitng this particular mall on every weekend since last month & trust me its doing wonders.
As far as movies that moved me are :-
Masoom,
Golmaal ( Amol Palekar's)
Swadesh
Border

In that case TED members must definately tudy this stock a it is one of "What u see" kinda stock.
THis particular mall has everything a mumbaite needs & i have seen people flocking this place like nething. It has westside - food bazars - lots of branded stores - all famous restaurants including TGIF & all the shops & restaurants are doing fantastic business, the game parlour has stuff for kids raning from 1 yrs to 16 yrs, & its always full even on working days. ...
Trust me I think this particular mall must be doing the highest businesss in mumbai as of now...... lets get more feedback from other members.....

Correction here they own the multiplex not the mall. Mall development business is currently in Thane and Nagpur if i m not wrong. Management is expecting 200% growth over next 2 years.Their market share in Mumbai is 33% highest in the industry. It should do well like PVR and INOX but i dont think there will be value after listing considering 42.17 oversubscription.

There is a movie called "Pirates of Silicon Valley", based on the story of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and how Microsoft was created. It is one of my all time favorites.
It tells us just how Microsoft was created and the bits only a select few knew.

I usually read Rajeev Masand's (CNN IBN's movie reviewer) movie reviews before going out for movies. And I usually find his reviews to my taste.
Here's the link: http://www.ibnlive.com/news/showbiz/02_2007/masands-verdict-honeymoon-travels-34312.html
But probably the last line sums it up. "It's a strictly average film that could have been so much more. Watch it if you've got nothing better to do."
Its not worth the time/money to go to cinema. Get a CD or get kazaa/dc++ etc if you really want it.

Same here. I simply love this movie. I have seen it multiple times and still enjoi it.
I would recommend it to every person who is related to IT in some way.
Just think of it, most of what we see today started out at that time in univeristy labs, reaserch labs and even garages in the US.
The palo alto research center shown in the movie was the place where the concept of GUI was first concieved. Same with the idea of a mouse. The ethernet started then and so did Postscript.
The GUI and mouse led to the creation of Windows and Macintosh OSes. PS led PDf and revolutionized printing altogether. Ethernet led to the internet.
And it created some big companies of present times. Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, Adobe, and now Google and Amazon.

I fully agree with Sadmaa's last scene being too touchy.
Vivek bhai, you must then also watch Citylights by Charlie Chaplin. It has similar scene which is quite superbly performed by Chaplin.

I just finished Gafla movie. It is made on harshad Mehta. A must watch for all TED. Sometimes we believe that stock price follows fundamentals but stock price follows demand 'n supply, which is brutally manipulated by operators in their favors. We are narrate stories about stock and future prospects. Since we are lay man, nothing happens to price but when operators do it, stock dances.
Stock markets are function of only demand and supply and both are artificial (as they lack any kind of consumption). PE discounting, future prospects, sector stories are narrated to increase demand. It is a game and we are part of it.
