Dear TEDies,
I just noticed from few days through various sources that bio - technology may be the next big thing. I am not referring to research companies, hospitals, pharma companies or institutions, since these require lots of money for research equipment, salaries, experiments, etc but of those companies which provide them with the durables ie eqipment, labs, electronic devices and consumables ie high quality chemicals, calibrated genome kits, etc
I just chanced to know that these companies normally supply the equipment with around 30 to 40% plus margins plus the consumables are supplied also on high margins. Further there is always the AMC to take care of lab equipment.
Basically companies that produce / manufacture standardized equipment, chemicals, consumables, undergo AMC. manufacturing other items essential for biotechnology work. They get paid after delivery or commisioning of equipment irrespective of the outcome of the research.
A few such companies are Sanmar chemicals, bangalore genie, basco,
Can we all add a few companies in this sector, then I will try to find out more.

Reliance life sciences started off with a lot of hype ..ahvent heard much about it since then..nevertheless they are again into R&D ...coming to equipment manufacturers and distributors..I had read that Mukesh Ambani had alredy plans to open this kind of chain of stores for distribution of these equipments...India surely needs some good quality of equipment ...we are way too behind on this front. ------------- Warm REgards Nitin Jagtap |

Advanced Micronic Devices is into this. they are importers and marketers as well as manufacturers.
Siemens Medical Solutions is also into this space or what?

I went through Advanced Micronic Devices data on rediff money
info there is:--
mkt cap:- 29.79
But on net info is there that this is subsidiary of Opto circuits, so Vivek bhai any special information of this company in annual report of opto circuits.

| A Biotechnology company in true sense which got relisted at BSE(590076) recently is a true blue Biotechnology company called Camson Biotechnologies Ltd.This company is in the field of biopesticides,hybrid seens n biofertilizers.The turnover of thr co has increased from 04 crores in March 2006 to 17 crores in Marrch 07 to nearly 45 crores in march 08 together with 20% NPM.No wonder some farsighted investors like Prof Mankekar thru his investment firm Pivotal securites n MCX thru its directors have taken sizeable stake in it .Ofcourse it was done in the bullish time of 2007 .Keep a close tab on this undiscovered gem. |

GE, Siemens and some extent Kodak are into the high end electronic medical equipment business like CT scan equipments, doplers, MRIs, X ray machines , cardiograms etc . ------------- Warm REgards Nitin Jagtap |

I was following up on biotechnology research equipment supplying comapnies. In that I just came to know that even NIIT has entered biotechnology field. They are now running courses on genome research & studies also at delhi. Majority of orders I have come to know are for vortex shakers, baths, crogenic baths, incubators, life cell imagers, spectrophotometer, electro ploroscence baths, ph meters, rotary shakers, genome tube vibrators, water bath shaker, genome culture instruments, orbital shakers, genome tag marking indicators, genome stains, etc Now I am trying to find companies which make or sell them.
