Hello,

The June 2007 quarter was another one of those blockbuster sessions that TED (TheEquityDesk) is known for. Some of the ideas which we had identified very early like http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=142 - really took off. http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=429&FID=41&PR=3 - The Equity Desk XI did far better and for the six month period and   http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1036 - beat all Indian Mutual funds .The EquityDesk XI also witnessed some changes with the following replacements:

1)   http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=966 - DIshTV replaces ABNuvo inTheEquityDesk XI

2) http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=965 - Titan replaces Educomp inTheEquityDesk XI

3) http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=967 - Network18replacesTrent inTheEquityDesk XI

June 2007 also marked the completion of one year and the performance of the stocks on this forum has been extraordinary. The trick has been to identify opportunities in areas which do not need too much estimation and which are less dependent on external factors and more a product of how the businesses are managed. So while we missed and were wrong on not having discussed TISCO at Rs 450 we more then made up the opportunity  lost by initiating discussion on a number of stocks that have been multibaggers in the short span of 12 months. The table below lists the stocks in the realm of serious discussion at TheEquityDesk.

Good Job!!

I am lucky to be invested in the top performing TED stocks and all the credit goes to TED.

Just one thing, I would like to see Northgate also in the list.

basantjee,

Any specific reason why you are not comfortable with Infoedge? Is it the valuations or anything else?

Posted By: basant
Date Posted: 01/Jul/2007 at 11:40pm
Never said I am not comfortable but Infoedge is a one site property and while this is a dominant website the rsks are far too high if say tomorrow naukri.com loses its number 1 status. There is no way to know who is number 1 but certainly Infoedge is a great franchise just that sinle property sites makes one uncomfortable at Rs 2200 crores. Not to suggest that it should not be bought but that one cannot have it in good quantity. Smartcat can pitch in here since he is the master of the net!

I see no reason why Northgate should not be in the list as we are discussing it in TED. (actually more than some of the stocks that are in the list)

Let us track this also in the report card.

Dear Basant Jee,

Yesterday only I joined this forum and I am also a novice in share investing also. I was going through the Share cum Cricket team of TED and I was really impressed by the resonings and logics behind choosing the scrips. I have One doubt. I kindly request you to please clarify the same.

I hope this model portfolio of expected multibaggers was prepared in mid of June 2006 and after that the portfolio has also undergone many changes depending on the market situations.

I went through the latest team as mentioned by you in 1st July 07 on this forum. I want to have such a portfolio. Can you please tell whether it is the appropriate time(Sensex touches new high n all) to accumulate the whole portfolio as mentioned by you? Of course I have to purchase all freshly, because I have only ENIL in my portfolio as of now.

Looking forward for your kind advice.

Warm Regards
Gouranga

Dear Basant, Cannot see any auto stocks in your report card. What do you think of BAJAJ AUTO demerger plans especially their 9000 + crores investment in various shares & bonds. Also after looking at your report i want to sell my holding in TELCO 250 shares  & swap it with one your favourite. Please give some idea.

AUto is a cyclical business and normally I am not a big fan of
http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=279 - cyclical businesses   because the entry and exit points have to be located correctly.

Basant sir, I just realized. Even though Nucleus also has a decent thread on TED and is discussed in the same way if not more than some of the above report members, it has not been included in the Report Card.

Just wanted to put a gentle reminder here. If you need the details, it was first discussed by me on TED I think around December 2006 in a common thread, but since the thread especially for Nucleus started on 8 Jan 2007 let us take that as the recomm. date. I think the market price that time was little less than 630.

 Congrats Basant,

Your TED-XI has given a sterling performance.
I can bet, this selection and the appreciation of these stocks can beat any analysis, whether by a single analyst or a research house.

Your good work has helped all TEDDIES to make more money and increase their knowledge.

The older I get in the forum, I become a bigger admirer of your investing logic and style.

Prime Focus may deserve a place in next issue of this thread. Since January 2007  till date it is more than double (I think)

Hi, At this site we buy stocks for years not weeks so there is little mismatch of investing style there. Unfortunately no one knows the best performing stocks for next week.

In case you have a longer term view you could buy stocks from our TheEquityDesk XI.

Although September Quarter will be something where there will be nothing to write home about( from what appears as of now), but some stocks of the team are really turning it on like HDFC and Titan. So, we will have a Y-o-Y growth but a stagnant or a minor rise Q-o-Q.......tough call, aint it????

Koi na Koi izzat bacha leta hai! The Ted XI will undergo a change. I am still contemplating whether to give SUzlon one more quarter (bad result) or bid adieu!!!

Suzlon always inches closer to Rs. 1,500 levels when the result season approaches. When the results are out, it slides down to Rs. 1,200. This is one fun stock.

If you are contemplating a 'sayonara', this is not a bad time to do it. But who replaces it? Do you have a suitor in mind?

Posted By: kishanpv
Date Posted: 17/Sep/2007 at 5:31pm
you are doing a great job basant ji.

BTW, to highlight on the business of Suzlon. I had a chat with their executives & the model seems fine for people with tons of black money, which they can convert into white immediately. But the flip side being the returns being electricity sold to govt (govt fixing the price) is very poor.

My 2 cents..

I would prefer Yes Bank, in place of Suzlon (which will help TED shine better)

Hi!

The report card is excellent!

But i am still skeptical about investing in stocks like Pantloon retail. The shopping experiance is really poor, as compare to shoper's stops Hypercity or CESC's Spensers.

I think Pantaloon was a big advanage i.e. FIRST MOVERS. And it has been already discounted in the price. Now it seems that it is only a momentum play and will go down under like Himachal and Global went down after tech crash........................

Second, the best of the minds in India are working on Retail....Bharti, Birlas and Reliance .............and lot more..............

Its time to pack up Pantaloon....!

I think, in current market conditions CESC will be a big bet, coupled with power sector and retail outlet .....Spencers..........

Any takers for this argument?

Basant sir, Yes Bank is part of TED XI and yet its color is NOT RED, like other TED XI players. We should do a recheck everytime there is a replacement. And Suzlon is still in RED color, though it is OUT. Kindly have a look!! Thank you! Tongue
