Dear Basant,

Given the huge opportunity in the Power sector which are the Small cap & Mid Cap stocks you would suggest in this space.

Hi,

From growth point of view, Easun Reyrolle is looking excellent. From financials stanpoint, Torrent Power SEC is also excellent. CESC can also be a decent play.

From what I heard from the management, Ramsarup Wires may be a decent play as well, but we need to give some time before we understand the strength of the management credentials.Although, persoanlly speaking, the management appeared very focussed.

Regards,
Vivek

Vivek,
I agree with you on  Easun. I believe they have collaboration with Rolls Royce..

Look into JP associates: They are developing hydro. One time big investment. After that water and cash keep on flowing.

JP Associates is also good, I agree. Missed it, but then can you throw some more light on that.

I would not touch the generation side as much as I would on the equipment suppliers side. Power generation is a low RoE business and investors would find it tough to make money there. There is no pricing power. See what happened in Delhi after Reliance ebnnergy tried raising prices.

On the equipment/related companies we could look at

Havells Emco was a good choice until they blew it up by going into the generatioon space. This would dilute equity and the incremental RoE would be less leading to a less then propotionate growth in EPS;Crompton seems to have run up but leaders will always be costly (I would prefer the Havell management to Crompton)Khaitan etc are a total avoid.

Have never studied the sector in detail so cannot comment more but in such industries it makes sense to stay with noted names. A dark horse could be Indo Asian fuse gear.
