Hats off to the entreprenural skill of the Marwaris. They have spread far and wide . But just a coincidense I on avisit to the BISICO and BIADA ( both the state lending houses) have noticed that 60% or more of the NPA is caused by the Marwari community and this is the experiense of most bk managers I meet. May be I meet the wrong people!!!

Unfortunately that is very true!Great minds and ideas do not translate into money. The average marwari is still a tradionalist. he rpefers to slog out 7 days a week rather then have professionals run his company, they are very choosy of paying high salaries and do spend a lot on pomp and show.

A daughter's marriage in the middle class marwari home costs Rs 15 lacs - 20 lacs; death in a family costs around Rs 1.5 lacs; birth of a child costs around Rs 1.5 lacs; daughter giving birth to child costs the same so we do live in a tough society and people who live out of social fear end up working all their lives just to make two ends meet.

Now why was this relevant in this post was because you have these necessary expenses which are all sucked out from the business.

On the other hand  marwari or no marwari any loan in Bihar would have gone bad. Who let's people work in states like Bihar and J&K.

Basantji, Not to make an issue this expense is there in most of the communities, landed people sell their land but do not cause NPA.NPA is caused cheifly due to diversion of funds. I do understand that you have had a very bad experiense with J&K their the problem is mostly political. But to say the same of Bihar, when it has nurtured the STERLITE BOSS,Indian Express Goenka,Dalmias and so many more. GD BIRLA too started off at the Sidwalia Sugar Mill!!!! So at the present case Bihar is like a colony which gives labour and raw products imports finished goods and services. It is in the perfect Explotative cycle and above that the tag BIhari says it all.OuchOuch

Not disputing that. In fact in my post I mentioned this, luxories become necessities out of social fear but that does not give anyone a license to kill public institutions.Cry.
