The Marwaris are regarded by many as being the very best practitioners of the art of Dhandho. Their amazing Dhandho endeavors, in many cases, leave the Patels in the dust. Big%20smile

I think we are confusing ourselves here. Marwaris cannot be complete without enlisting Maheshwaris, Brahmins, and Jains(Oswals included). I am a maheshwari with my native place at Nohar in district of hanumangarh. We have no connection whatsover with Agarwals. They are also marwaris and we are also marwaris. We have separate culture and altogether separate lifestyle. Our language although similar is quite distinctly possible. We are a caste minority among marwaris but try to maintain our distinct identity. we have rakhi on a separate day, we have different important festivals besides the common ones. We dont worship rani sati dadiji and we consider Lord shiva to be our only god. So, to say all marwaris are agarwals is a gross injustice to maheshwaris and Jains.

Bubble, attend a maheshwari marriage and an agarwal marriage and the difference will be starkly visible.

Though I always thought that Agarwals were the more flamboyant expressive types I did not know these fine distinctions between the two sub categories.

Maheshwaris normally spend a little less and are more risk averse in business and life compared to the more stylish Agarwals!

I hope that I do not start a war of words again!!!

I hope Bikaneris are not listening/seeing this. They will get extremely offended on being clubbed with other castes. We are more similar to jain/Oswals in our style rather than Agarwals. You will see the same conservatism in the approach between the maheshwari and agarwal management. Birlas, bangurs, Somanis, Jhawars, Kotharis vs. the goenkas, Khaitans, Jhunjhunwalas, Kejriwals, Jalans, Poddars, Kanorias, Bajorias etc. The approach is very very distinct. Most of the maheshwari management will start trembling on issue of equity. Agarwal management will not hesitate a bit to do that. Maheshwari managements are damn rigid but extremely principled. But the sense of community feeling is extremely high among maheshwaris. My dad gets extremely annoyed when I sell even a single ticket of a Maheshwari management's company.
