Yeah! I have plans to buy this ETF & add during panics. Has the liquidity improved now?

Kuman ji, liquidity is a problem even now but it works to our advantage also during panic(s)!

So as in cricket, BFSI also needs youngsters to perform well.

Just one query: from your reading are the young private banks too agressive for comfort? I mean are they taking too many risks just to achieve growth in numbers at the cost of poor credit qualities. In this aspect, which private banks are better?

One bengali young lady who works in CBI (Central Bank of India),Pune was telling me that the type of freedom that some private banks get and operate in agression to earn money is also given to them (Public banks) then they can grow in such speed that the private banks can not compete with them! (I really do not pay attention to uderstand the differences in working rules and regulations and the safety factor etc what she said). Besides in the name of Gold / Platinum / Silver debit / credit cards,or in terms of charges on cash withdrawl or in terms of charges in internet banking these private banks takes the money away from its customers what generally the public banks do not do. Besides all PSU BANKS have already taken the facility of internet banking and common people for regular transaction do not need to visit old faces in PSU. Time to time we get some emails about the performance of private banks that is really alarming and OLD people feel less safe to keep their money in private banks because they are risk averse.

Thanx PKB2000ji,

While I mean what I have written, I don't say that all the  old people are like that in Banks. There are many knowledgable and efficient execeutives are also there in Banks. But what I meant was, majority of the old people are like that. About your observation about the Branch Manager of SBI, its totally poor planning. Otherwise the Branch Manager, who has to take a lot of credit and other decissions is engaged in managing the crowd.

It was just my observations.

Kulmanji,
About taking credit decissions, its experience and knowledge both matters. But I have seen, in credit decissions, the persons nearing to retirement don't like to take risk and try to go deep into everything and make late. Now a days, when banks are competing with each other for sound credit proposals, the person who does not take fast decission is left behind.

While analysing the results of Banks, it is better to compare with the immediate preceeding quarter, rather than comparing with the same quarter of last year.
Banks are no more in a seasonal business and the business should grow every quarter. This comparision gives a better understanding about the growth of the Bank.

LOL I am not leaving you Praharaj ji so easily. He was a manager / officer level but not Branch manager indeed. Secondly the best way to sort out the problem is to recruit some more staff as I feel for regularise the crowd. This  not only tells the chaos but tells us the huge customer they handle (indirectly). Planning is required everywhere that is also true. But they need more freedom!
I was reading today morning an article in ET about PSU banks. World wide discussions including india with special emphasis on the areas of imrpovements and the bank consultant (the writer) does not deny that the process of improvement in efficiency and performance over the years of PSU banks is noticeable.

Thank you Sir for your tidbits. Have been learning a lot on banking these days with about amajor part of my portfolio finding their way into banking stocks..

Any idea on DCB Mohanji is upbeat on this and it does seem Ok to me though expensively valued. I am talking from the management and systems (processes and business) point of view.

And while on the subject.....there are exceptions....

State Bank of India (SBI) on Tuesday said it cleared a $1 billion loan for the Tatas in just five minutes. This philosophy of quick decision-making has placed the bank it much ahead of competitors on overseas mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals, the bank said. (source: dna)

Loan for Tatas would have been cleared on an SMS also!
