haha yes of course. But I tend to be very strict with the driver's attire. It has to be Indian truck driver style - striped chaddis, a lungi, a sweaty banian and a dirty towel wrapped over your head.

smart cat there r two ways to reach leh by road one which you took and one which i will take from srinagar drive to sonamarg then climb to zojilla at 16000ft take a nights hault at kargil after driving thru drass, dont forget to photograph yourself in front of the bofors gun if the jawans allow you to do it then from kargil its a 214 km drive to leh via lamayaru and shey along the river indus.nubra valley is the northen part of ladakh from leh take the beacon highway climb to khardungla before entering nubra nubra is famous for the two humped camel.and is an overnight journey.

When do you plan to go there? Will these roads be open 365 days a year? I know that Manali - Leh road is closed after October, not sure about the Kargil route. Just check with somebody (say, a hotel in Leh) before you leave. Don't forget to upload your photos after your trip.
I would have come, but my car can't survive a direct hit from a 120mm shell. Drive carefully, and take some altitude sickness pills (seems odd giving this suggestion to a doctor!)

sept 18 to be precise,yes you need to take DIAMOX along with you,we have friends in srinagar who r tour operators roads r open till oct, sure will post the fotos and details of the journey
