Its like this mr. Student, when we decide to buy a stock, I beleive we should try to discover an ideal price and the current price and then trade. Its the difference between the ideal price and the current price that shows us the value. What I have problem with, is that we pick up stocks on random hypothesis and postulates, without bothering to discover a correct price and finding out the value. All O want to say, is that as investors we need not be thinkers alone. We need to be mathematicians and accountants as well.
As far as companies and sectors go, let me give you an example. We are talking of so many steel companies coming ovser here in India. But then all steel plants, use metallurgical chemicals. I know of just 1 company in this field, o.e. Foseco India.
We talk of so many things on paper consumption. All of the paper manyfacturing plants require Felts. How many companies are into that field?I know of just 1 comopany, Porritts and Spencer Asia.wores and Wabriks is also there, but I am not sure.
There can be many examlples... just a few I mentioned here.
