NName  - Nitin Jagtap

Age     - 33 Years

Location  - Bangalore

Occupation - SAP Finance and Controlling Consultant

Interests - Investments and Thouroghbred Racing

Investing styles - Long term Investor trying to look for sectors and stocks that are out of flavour and offer value and look for those new emerging stars. I started of investing in Nov 1999 my first pick was IDBI Bank ...had made some very stupid and bad investments in 2000 (a few K 10 stocks) had a bad fall and lost money but didnt loose the lesson.

Best Picks - L&T , HDFC Bank, Marico Inds, Concor, GAIL, Asian Paints..been holding them for almost 8 years now and some not so old ones like IDFC, Yes bank, CBoP,Nucleus,Tata Chem etc

Worst Picks - HFCL, Global Tele ( I think I was the buyer at the highest price)

Worst Regrets - Having sold Kotak Mahindra bank , Shree cements and Godrej Consumer in 2003 I made around 2-4 X on invesment and exited.

Worst Misses - Unitech ..kept tracking the stock for around 2-3 months after reading an article on unitech and abhishek dalmia somewhere in 04 I think , keep postponing and postponing ..still havent bought it :-(

Investing Legend : Ramesh Damani, Basatjee(I had some interaction with Basantjee in 2005 when he used to write for valuenotes.com ,not sure if he remembers it , really like his thought process) and offcourse Peter Lynch.

Worst habit - not able to keep a control on the no of stocks in my portfolio ..its something like 40 plus stocks..diversification in the literal sense :-)

As mentioned in the scriptures and often used by RD, I believe there are no mistakes in life there are only lessons learnt.

Lastly I would like to mention that I have been visiting TED regularly for the last 3-4 weeks or so and now its kind of regular and addictivve if I can  use that word (hope no one from my office sees this ) . Special thanks to Bubblevisionji , Deveshji, Omji,Kulmanji, Tiger Shark, ( hope its the from RD chats - liked your questions even then Tigesharkji) for the knowledge sharing. I hope to also contribute in the comings days to this wonderfull community.

Warm REgards

Hi Teddies,

I discovered TED around 2-3 months back while doing a google search on some stock, don't remember which one.  I realized soon that this is pehaps the best discussion forum sites among all I have visited till date.  And what makes it great seems to be the Leader Basant and some great minds of Devesh and many more - the reserach is very well focussed and empahis is always on long term and no distractions.   This is also a wealth of knowledge with the people very enthusiasitcally sharing things via different threads.   I have recommended this site to some of my other friends too.

- Name  :  Vishal Bharti
- Age : 32
- Location : Noida, UP.
- Occupation : Application Engineer, Cadence( VLSI software company)
- Interests : watching CNBC, stock investing, now reading into various TED forums
- Investing styles - I am an Investor.  But not a long term one, starting to become long term one after  I get an active and experienced circle at TED which gives confidence and also gives more sureity on some self convictions
- Investing Legends - RJ

My current stock holdings:
a. Morgan Stanley Growth Fund ( 25%) - holding since last two years.
       -  has a holding of really good stocks, provides stability to my portfolio, at the same time , available at discount to NAV which should bridge up sooner than later.
b. Axis Bank(11%)  - TED inspired me to add this in Nov 2007.
       - i had to make a choice among some private sector banks, ted halped in narrowing down the choice
c. Reliance Capital(11%) - holding since  Sep 2007
       - Full Financial play, Multiple high growth engines
d. Yes Bank(7%) - TED inspired me to add this in Dec 2007
e. Core Projects(20%) - holding since Sep 2007
       - Play on high growth education sector, bought it when relatively very cheap compared to Educomp, but has doubled since then.
f.  3i Infotech(5%) - holding since last 6 months
       - domestic infotech play, also some E-gov projects which may throw a large opportunity I think.
g. Exide(5%) - holding since last three months
       - play on batteries, bonus of Insurance play.
h.  PTC(7%) - holding since last 6 months
       - proxy play on Power sector, should be a beneficiary of increasing available Power, In Dec 2007 they shared a presentation on thie website which seems inspiring
i. PFC(6%) - holding since last 6 months
       - play on Power sector
j. HDIL(5%) - bought today
       - play on Mumbai real estate.

As of today, I am positive in all the above stocks.

I have been investing in the markets for long , seen Harshad mehta's days (still have some company's Share Certificates which vanished...) and also seen ketan Parikh's days -  Lost lots of money in 2000 in DSQ.  re-entered in 2003 with an aim of always having a margin of safety by investing in credible companies( that's the reason for having MSGF long term holding..) - the TED really helps I believe in testing and confirming some of your convictions and understanding even better and better what is investing ......-  Helps in more easily living and believing in the RJ quote - "Patience and conviction will get tested"  .

Regards,
Vishal

DSQ. Global Tele. HFCL. The management of these companies should be honoured for pushing retail investors in the right direction post-2000. Their contribution towards maturity of Indian equity investors should not be forgotten.
