And they have marked all the places where you can get liquor. So when you are driving around, you will occassionaly see the 'beer peg' symbol on the screen.

Imagine if someone does it for Goa. The map would only show those "beer peg" symbols almost everywhere.

Don't bother looking at Garmin's site because it might not be available in India or might not work here. Check out Garmin India dealer's website www.asplindia.in

The extent of success of these products is actually debatable. In developed countries, you will never find people walking on the roads - so asking for directions is a tough task.

But here in India, you have to keep your eyes peeled for people who suddenly decide on walk on the road. And people here generally love to give directions to strangers.

you know the fun is when non-Hindi speakers try to tell the directions...."Seedha straight jaana right mein! Aage ek ped girenga!! Wahan se seedha left lena!!"

hee hee.. My Hindi is probably only slightly better than that.

Auto drivers/ Taxi drivers are the best persons to ask directions. On the highways, nothing beats the truck drivers. You get a complete picture about the weather, road condition, traffic conditions, alternate routes etc. Garmin/Mapmyindia has a tough competitor.

Being a selfish investor private companies do not interest me.. BTW the concept seems extraordinarily great.I was watching a program on tv where they showed that one of such gadgets took a person right at the doorstep of an address.

But today is saturday. On weekends, you should look at companies that don't interest you.

Yes, it takes you right to the door-step. If a house has a name (Eg: Anugraha), it even shows that on the screen along with  the house number.
