Recently it has lunched MymyIndia Navigator device in 11 cities of India. The navigator device is preloaded with all the maps of these cities having an exhaustive details about ATMs, restaurants, coffee shops and business establishments etc helping the motorists to commute hassle free. It targets the vast car market of Indian cities and comes in 2 versions, costing from 21000-22000 Rs. Apart from the preloaded maps, the device is in sync with satellites to get real time feeds.
Potential: In all the developed countries, navigation device is an integral part of every car and now days in countries like Japan, Toyota and Honda are providing navigation devices inbuilt in some models. In about more than 80% passengers vehicles there is navigation devices fitted with. I think the passenger car market is already catching up in India and in near future many low end models from many auto companies are coming up. So I think since as of now CE is the only company providing these kind of services in India so there is a huge potential in this company.

Car GPS systems could become big in the next few years.
GPS navigation is pretty useful. I have a Garmin GPS in my car which I had bought 2 years back (with maps of Bangalore & Mumbai). It was very useful when I was in Mumbai. No need to ask taxi-drivers or passers by - just type in where you want to go, and the GPS will direct you at every turn.
It cannot recognize one-ways, but if you don't take the road suggested by the GPS, it automatically re-calculates with the help of satellites and directs you to the destination via another road.
MapMyIndia.com, once listed could become big like Garmin (market cap $24 billion) but we are probably 10 years away from that. Also, nowadays, mapping systems are loaded in high-end mobiles. So companies like mapmyindia, garmin etc will have to now take on mobile phone manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung etc.

No. But once VC firms enter the picture, they look at listing as a way of cashing out. This company is atleast 3 - 5 years away from listing.
Kleiner Perkins is one of the most successful VC firms - they had purchased 20% of Google for $25 million!

Oh wow!
Tell me, does it also warn you of stray cows/buffaloes on the road, or indicate wrongly parked vehicles, other vehicles breaking red signal or auto rickshaws coming wrong way! Or does it have special feature called "Mama ahead!" i.e. warning that a traffic cop is actually there at next junction!!
If yes, I would buy for driving in Pune. For the uninitiated, in Pune driving drives one mad literally.

It does all that and it cooks for you too. It is a gadget straight from heaven.
The map loaded on my Garmin is from Reliance Communications. Apparently, they had mapped Bangalore when they were setting up optical fibre cables here. And they have marked all the places where you can get liquor. So when you are driving around, you will occassionaly see the 'beer peg' symbol on the screen.

Being a selfish investor private companies do not interest me.. BTW the concept seems extraordinarily great.I was watching a program on tv where they showed that one of such gadgets took a person right at the doorstep of an address.
