People at home think 'terrorists' are waiting for me for a chance to blow me up
----------------------
I thought that people at home were more concerned about inhabitants in those places!!

I am hurt - very deeply hurt by the insinuation.
I give enough opportunities for the locals to put a Topi on me. I never come back without buying whole lot of overpriced junk.

Is it what is called as Souveniers? Yeah....somehow many tourists get trapped into buying 'exotic' items.

Yeah, I especially get suckered by 'handicrafts'.
On my office table, I have a stone Buddha (or Mahavir, I don't know), a stock market bull (made out of wood), a vintage car (wood again), a small wooden bullock cart bought in Rajasthan, a musical instrument that makes squeaky noises etc

In a way you are doing good to the locals. In future, just however check whether the stuff isn't made in China.

Don't forget to take the camera! And whatever you do, don't forget to visit the Pangong Tso Lake.
