Mr. Kishan of Mindtree had sent a message regarding the location Reliance Fresh in Indiranagar, Bangalore. We both spoke and planning to meet sometime during this week.

Hi,
I'm Vincent, 33 yrs of age. Born in Mumbai, presently located at abu dhabi, UAE.
Profession: Planning Engr.
Interests: Web surfing, Reading.
Investing legends : Peter lynch, Warren Buffet.

I had invested (speculated) during the harshad mehta bull run. All those scrips are not worth the paper they are printed on!!
So i'd decided that this was not my cup of tea. Until I met a youngster in ahmedabad who said "Money lost in the market, should be recovered from the market".
Since then i began my quest to learn about finance. I read "In the wonderland of investment" by A.N.Shanbhag and invested some amt in an ELSS scheme in Jan '02. This is my 6-bagger and still going strong!! This got me hooked to MF's. so my portfolio started moving from FD's to equity MF's. I still did not dare touch stocks directly. Until I read in a newspaper about G.E shippings dividend record. I found that at the then market price the div yield was 10%. I immediately opened a demat a/c and bought some GE shipping stocks.
Then i started diversifying. Now my portfolio comprises of bharti airtel, tata chemicals, tata power, reliance, infosys, tcs, bharati shipyard, klg systel, bartronics, bharat forge, gail, hdfc, hdfc bank, reliance petro, great offshore.

I came to know of this site while googling for info about TV18 and bartronics. For the last 5 days i was going thro the discussion forums and i was hooked. I liked the simplicity and clarity in the thought process of basantji, kulmanji..

Since we all are on the learning curve i would like to learn and share my thoughts with u guys!!

Time is your friend on the road to wellbeing.

A very warm welcome Vincent jee. Hope to learn a lot from you as well.

The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect.A temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd nor against it

Hi Vincent,

Welcome to TED !!!

I alos started with GE shipping and SCI due to dividend yield (and at some point of time I used to get excited because of the dividend news/distribution ... ) but slowly came out of the hangover of dividend and started to abandon cyclicals (I sold Ultratech recently ) look for growth stories which will  multiply my money !!

(Patrons of dividend yield stocks pls forgive me !!)

It would be interesting to know your jouney into investments from HM days till date. Pls share whenever you can !!
