Still Warne and Mc-Grath managed wonderful individual records.

Basantji just to add, if we see some of the numbers they are amazing.

Murali has averaged 6 wickets per match(800/133), that means 3 wickets per inning.

In any inning there are only 10 players so at the very least in the matches he has played Murali has accounted for 30% of all Sri Lankan wickets taken.

Since in many matches all 20 wickets are not taken, Murali's share is probably even higher I guess about 35%

So quite simply he has taken 1/3 of all Sri Lankan wickets during his time. Wow.

An interesting side note

When Kapil paaji retired in 95 the top bowlers list had only one spinner Lance Gibbs with about 300+ wickets

Now the top 3 wicket takers are all spinners i.e. Murali, Warne, Kumble.

Glen Mccgrath comes in 4th at 568 wickets.

Any ideas anyone what could be the reasons for this? i.e. is it that there were really good spinners and no fast bowlers in this period?

For more numbers please check out this link

Note:Dale Steyn has an amazing strike rate, one wicket every 6 overs.

Slow bowlers can play for longer periods. All these spinners retired at 38+. Fast bowlers cannot last that long. Fast bowlers also have fitness issues. They are in and out of the team with injuries. Kapil had a wonderful fitness record.

Happy Janmashtami to everyone from my side.
The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect.A temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd nor against it
