Topic: GTL Infra Posted: 20/Nov/2006 at 4:41pm
the business that gtl infra is in seems to be lucrative.
their coo and cmd have laid stress on maintianing a positive cash flow and IDFC is also promoting this company.
The tele-density has increased from 2% in 1998 to 11.43% in December 2005. The NTP 1999 aims at achieving a tele-density of 15% by 2015.
India’s wireless market is projected to grow from the 80 million wireless subscribers in January 2006 to 122 million by 2007 and further grow to more than 200 million by 2010.
The growing CAPEX/ownership cost and the high operating expenses incurred by each Telecom Operator on a site ownership basis individually, as also prohibitively large CAPEX presents an opportunity for infrastructure sharing in both these areas.
GIL is focusing on this opportunity and would practice the model of sharing infrastructure amongst various telecom operators.
Salient Features
Ownership of infrastructure by GIL
Site Infrastructure provisioning charges payable by telecom operators on a monthly/quarterly basis
CMP of 39.60 is attractive. gtl infra is going to add 6700 cell sites in near future and re investing few billion INR in near future.
the business model seems to be good since with increasing tele density, and increasing cost of space, metals and other infra facilities + govt. regulation on limiting the cell sites in a particular area. the telecom operators will look for partnership with such infra companies so to me gtl infra seems to be a good buy.

I think that it belongs to the Tirodkar group of Global Tele Systems. If so do not look at the stock irrespective of what they are doing.

re they involved in some wrong doings? - A lot of them were you not in the market during the 2000 tech boom Ask some one who was? This management is tainted and should be avoided at all costs.
