As many of you know, bowling is a very popular sport in North America. Getting a bowling lane on a weekend typically entails nothing less than a 1 hr wait at most alleys. Apparently, bowling has still not caught on big time in India.

A quick google search brought up the following link:

PVR Ltd. (based on a quick google search) appears to be the only one that has taken steps to corner a market share in India. Their plan of having alleys adjacent to cineplexes has a lot of merit. People without tickets to a movie will go to a bowling alley. Moreover, the main revenue from the alleys actually come from refreshments and beverages sold at the alley (kind of like how cineplexes make more money selling pop and popcorn than actually the movie).

Is this something worth looking into? Who are PVR Ltd.'s competitors?

Can someone move this post to the appropriate section?

Hi
Bowling has been slated as the next big thing since almost 3-4 years, but doesn't seem to have caught on probably because of preference of Indian public for other entertainment avenues. PVR had ventured into bowling alleys but it might be a very small chunk of their business and plus PVR has a lot of problems of its own in their multiplex business.

If at all bowling works, I think it will be in metros.
Stockmarket is a weird place. For every person who buys a stock there is a person who sells it and both think they are very smart.
