Thank you Basantji.
If you're prepared to invest in a company, then you ought to be able to explain why in simple language that a fifth grader could understand, and quickly enough so the fifth grader won't get bored.

Finished reading VALUE INVESTING by Montier.

Initial focus of the book is on destroying the premise of Efficient market hypothesis and CAPM. There are a lot of data points provided to prove the author's view point.

Another strong message the author sends across is to avoid overpaying for growth. Again with a lot of data, he tries to argue that the seductive glamorous high PE stocks (In the Indian context read stocks like Page, Jubilant, etc) over an extended period of time tend to underperform the so called DOGS on which the markets by and large have given up in terms of growth.

There is a lot of repetition of same arguments in an effort to reinforce the message in the mind of reader.

Overall it is an okay sort of book.
Stockmarket is a weird place. For every person who buys a stock there is a person who sells it and both think they are very smart.

I like James Montier's writing. It can become quite "text book style" at times. But he tries to make every point quite clearly with some research.
